This season I couldn’t help but take notice to the nudity on the runway. Designers are baring it all by showcasing lingerie-inspired styles in their collections. Trust me—this trend is not for the faint hearted.
One particular collection that caught my eye this season was Alexander Wang’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. This was a true ready-to-wear collection that featured pieces like hoodies, denim shorts, leather pants, crop tops and everything in between. The looks that stood out to me the most were the pieces with hints of lace and silk. These lingerie pieces were striking and sexy. However, they still embodied the streetwear style that Wang was going for by pairing these looks with sneakers, gladiator sandals and even bomber jackets.
I couldn’t help but be inspired by his way of bringing the “unmentionables” to the streets. I recreated this lingerie trend by wearing a lace bra top that I paired with a leather jacket to truly embody Alexander Wang’s style. I added a pair of classic dark wash high-waist jeans to make the look more casual and streetwear friendly. I wanted to add a bit more edge to the looks, so I wore a pair of chunky heeled lace-up sandals. As for accessories, I decided to keep it minimal since my other pieces were very edgy, so I finished the look with two dainty gold bracelets and a simple, yet practical black handbag. When it comes to lingerie, I like to wear mine during the day.
