Runway fasion has always fascinated me in that it’s a wearable work of art that lends inspiration to every type of clothing for the rest of that season. The show that inspired this particular look is the Givenchy spring 2016 ready-to-wear line. With the pretty lace and simple lines, I knew it was something I could imitate in my everyday life. What was particularly intriguing was the vibe of intimate lingerie being repurposed for outside wear. I’m a big fan of this because lingerie can make a girl feel sexy and put-together so why not show that off?
When taking this look to my every day life I wanted to maintain the same feel as the runway show while making sure it was wearable and obviously fit my style. Summer in Minneapolis is so warm and humid but sometimes wearing just shorts and a tank top feels too simple, which is where this outfit comes into play. This outfit has everything I need and more. The lace shorts keep my legs cool but still let me move around and the top is a perfect combination of sexy and sweet. The kimono really adds that lingerie feel because it could double as a robe, but with this outfit it adds an extra floaty feminine touch where you can’t help but feel like a princess.
Adding gold jewelry like simple bracelets and an ear cuff is the perfect way to keep the romantic feel of the outfit while giving it a little extra bling. I tested this outfit on a date night and I got endless compliments on the pretty blush color and the girly feel. It achieved everything this trend is meant to by making me feel put-together and sexy but still cute.
