I’ve never been the type to play it safe when it comes to my wardrobe. However, as the weather becomes more dreary and chilly, I begin to develop a habit of sticking to darks and neutrals. Effortlessly chic and easy to wear, dark colors have become a staple in my style. I thought it was about time to shake things up.
If you’re looking for inspiration on mixing bolder colors in your wardrobe, then look no further than the resort 2016 Lanvin collection. This collection is filled with an array of eye-catching colors, funky jewelry and interesting prints. The very first look in the collection instantly inspired me to recreate a look pairing red and pink. This is something I never would have dared to do before, but I decided to use the new year as motivation to step a little more out of my comfort zone.
For this look, I knew I wanted to wear my Urban Outfitters pink cheetah print mini skirt. This skirt is a fun statement piece that has a zipper in the middle and small ruffled layers that adds texture to the outfit. Going for a red and pink theme, I paired it with my red long sleeve Forever 21 bodycon dress. Although I would have preferred to pair this skirt with a bodysuit, this dress fits the body snugly and is short enough to be worn under something.
Bringing my own personal style to this look, I also wore my new black combat boots. I wear these shoes with many of my outfits because they’re warm and can be styled with almost anything. In fact, I’ve already destroyed two pairs of black boots in the last four years from so much wear and tear.
To finish off the look, I added colorful jewelry, a red lip and a big coat to fight off cold. This outfit made the cloudy day a little brighter and influenced me to start reaching for the more colorful parts of my closet. Even if the weather isn’t bright and beautiful, the right outfit can certainly make up for it.
