After scrolling through the fall 2015 ready-to-wear shows I have no doubt that the upcoming fall season is going to be superb for the fashion industry. Every single collection was filled with looks that were fresh, new and creative. In particular I fell in love with the collection by Hellessy. “Turn-of-the-century London” and the film Bram Stoker’s Dracula-inspired the collection. The main character of the movie, Winona Ryder is depicted in heavy knits and outerwear to brace the cold of London. We can see the connection to this inspiration throughout every look presented in this show. Each look reminds me of the way I think of London—cold, rainy and dreary. Although, this makes it seem like the collection would be boring its is actually the complete opposite in my opinion.
The collection revolves around long outerwear, thick sweaters and often monochromatic ensembles. I was inspired by the simplicity of this fall collection and decided to try a look that reminded me of this show, but in a look more appropriate for my everyday life.
Just like the Hellessy collection I am sporting a chunky long cream sweater that reminded me of the kind of sweater Winona Ryder would wear in the film that inspired the designer. Additionally, I tried to mimic the monochromatic trend featured in this collection with my cream babydoll tank underneath my sweater. However, in order for this to be a look that I can wear to class instead of the runway, I chose to wear blue jeans and my favorite riding boots from Frye.
Get My Look: 1. Oversized knit sweater. 2. Cream tank top. 3. Leather riding boots.
