When most people think of layering, they think of seasons like fall and winter. Summer shouldn’t be forgotten, though. Layering can be done in numerous ways as long as you’re creative! My look was solely inspired by the DKNY spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I found that along with the fabulous use of layering, there was also a mixture of pieces with patterns, color-blocking and neutrals. I incorporated two of the three in my look.
I started my ensemble with a simple white fit-and-flare dress from Urban Outfitters. I then added a patterned kimono to not only add layering, but to contrast my dress as well. The outfit was then paired with a simple black sandal. With just these three items, I was able to showcase the simple neutrals and the patterned layers seen throughout the DKNY collection. To finish the look off with my own flare, I added my classic black kate spade watch, and a long chain necklace. This collection may be meant for spring, but I found it very easy to make it into a summer outfit. By using the right colors and patterns, I made this into a summer 2015 ready-to-wear ensemble.
This collection was absolutely phenomenal. Not only did DKNY layer with jackets, but with sweaters and tees too. I would hands down give this collection an A+. The best part about DKNY is how fun the clothing is! The collections always take me by surprise, and this one definitely impressed as well. Layers and patterns are big this summer, so find your favorite tee, jacket, sweater or kimono and style on!
