It’s so funny how trends repeat themselves over the years. My mom always used to say, “I used to wear those!” with practically anything I wear. Culottes for women made their appearance in the Victorian era, and now they’re back. This season is the best time to begin wearing them if you haven’t already. They’re versatile and are the perfect spring staple. So start renewing your love for the cropped pants!
I pulled together this outfit with inspiration from the Ralph Lauren spring 2016 ready-to-wear fashion show. which has a mixture of long flared pants, striped dresses and of course culottes. The culottes that are worn above were actually somewhat difficult for me to style because they’re so striking and literally lined with stripes, so I wanted to pair the outfit well with something much simpler. In order to make this possible, I went with a simple black leathered bustier, topped off with a black leather jacket to match. To keep it even less complex, I chose to go with adidas sneakers by Stan Smith. This can always be switched out for a pair of heels if you wanted to go for a more dressed up look.
To accessorize the look and juxtapose the simple pieces with something with complex, I completed the look with a bag from NASTY GAL, joined with a keychain from Poppy Lissiman and lots of fun rings!
