Who said that plaid should only be worn in the fall? While browsing through fashion shows on Style.com I came across Chloé’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Creative director Clare Waight stayed true to the Chloé girl’s confident aesthetic. However, she took the collection one step further by portraying the Chloé girl in a more precise, measured and edgier manner than in prior collections. The collection features a neutral mixture of silk, cashmere and plaid perfect for fall 2015.
While I love the preppy yet edgy aesthetic of the entire collection, my favorite look is number 15. Look 15 features a plaid coat layered over a black cashmere sweater and skirt set. This pairing reads both sexy and schoolgirl in one subtle outfit.
I decided to take the same twist on plaid and translate it into an easily wearable outfit perfect for scorching hot Arizona summers. For my look I broke out my favorite vintage plaid midi skirt that I recently scored for only one dollar. I paired that skirt with a black crochet bralette that I scored on sale at Urban Outfitters. To top the outfit off and make it fit my own aesthetic I added my favorite necklace, a black Panama hat and black high-top Converse. Finally, I added something that no outfit is complete without: vampy lipstick.
Using a mixture of thrifted and on-sale items, I was able to be the Chloé girl without having the Chloé girl’s budget. Like the experts say, “Money doesn’t buy you style.”
