A large majority of the resort 2016 runway is rosy-cheeked due to the pervasive presence of the color blush. An obvious top color of the season, blush was christened “the new white” by Donatella Versace. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that a mixture of blush and black appears in the Versace resort 2016 collection. Supplemented with touches of leather and lace, the collection proves that the mix of hard and soft is a trend that isn’t going away anytime soon. The Versace take on blush is completed with accents of lilac, one of my all-time favorite colors and a shade I can wholeheartedly get behind.
Creating my look, while taking direct inspiration from the Versace collection, I paired a blush top with black shorts. The lace of the top delivers the soft element associated with the color, while the distressed denim cutoffs provide the hard edge necessary for the proper contrast. My inspiration translated all the way down to my Steve Madden platforms, which shine with the look of faux-leather vinyl and take no prisoners.
I completed this look the same way Versace stylists did (I like to think), by adding a few accessories in lilac shades. My necklace is a family hand-me-down, while the watch is not entirely functional but still highly fashionable. You never know what trendy and adaptable items you may be able to find hiding in your own closet! Blush is a truly versatile, flattering color, and without doubt a trend that everyone can try out this summer.
Get My Look: 1. Any blush top (lace preferred). 2. A pair of black denim cutoffs. 3. Lilac accessories, like this watch.
