STYLE GURU STYLE: Masterful Matchmaker

It is crazy to see how much fashion repeats itself over the years. In just the past few years, we have seen a variety of trends from all different decades regain a level of trendiness we never thought possible. From the wide-leg pants of the ‘70s, to the bright colors of the ‘80s and even the classic sneakers of the ‘90s, we’ve literally seen it all. That is why I chose to play matchmaker between the decades, taking cues from this look out of Misha Nonoo’s resort 2016 collection.

I absolutely loved the fit of this playsuit, but found it difficult to find anything similar, so I settled on a pair of denim culottes with the same ‘70s silhouette. These culottes have quickly become a staple in my spring wardrobe; their lightweight feel and ability to go with anything make them a go-to. Since I was lacking the coverage of a playsuit, I wanted to make a statement with my top. Taking inspiration from the set of stripes on the T-shirt in Misha Nonoo’s collection, I went with a skinny striped T-shirt for a pop of color. Making the outfit my own, I threw on my trusted leather jacket for an added layer (and because I have not yet accepted the fact that it is summer in Florida).

In order to properly finish off the look, I have on a pair of all-white Pony sneakers. I totally dig the ‘90s aesthetic of these and I cannot stop wearing them! Plus, the brand has been around since the ‘70s so these kicks are instantly timeless. I top off the look with a pair of silver sunglasses and I am ready to rock my decades in solidarity.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of ‘70s-inspired culottes. 2. A vibrant, skinny striped shirt. 3. A pair of classic sneakers.
