Overall, the recent runway show from alice+ olivia was pretty groovy! The use of neutral colors mixed in with bright oranges, blues and reds add the perfect pop of color to each ensemble. A majority of the outfits had two prints, such as cheetah and paisley print, which made me fall in love with this collection; the mix of prints still allowed the models to look well put together. The use of bright colors, prints and loose fitted clothing made me wish I could time travel back to the ’70s just to get a dose of the fashion from that decade. I have always been in love with the whole bohemian style. However, I found it difficult to transition this style, which is well represented in the spring and summer, into the fall and winter months. However, alice + olivia proved me wrong and showed with deep brighter colors, bell bottoms and prints that any style can be year round.
I decided that today was finally the day to give this look a try. I took a look into my summer wardrobe and pulled out a pair of paisley print palazzo pants with high slits. I then pulled out my favorite sheer burgundy top, which is perfect for the winter. I used the same concept of an outfit shown on the runway. However, I used a completely different color scheme. I toned down my outfit by still mixing prints but instead of using cheetah, I completed my outfit with denim pointed-toe heels. I even incorporated a nude purse to give my outfit that little pop of neutral!
This pre-fall 2015 show inspired me to not allow the colder months to wash out the fun aspects of my clothing but instead to blend them in. In the end, I came out with an eccentric outfit that I will definitely recreate!
