Everyone tends to lean toward a certain personal style that they’re comfortable with. I am very indecisive and often flip flop between trends more than the average person, but how could I possibly call myself a Fashionista if I didn’t experiment with all the latest trends right?
I love that the trends from the past few decades, what I like to call throwback trends, are making their way back onto the fashion scene. Currently, during this fall season, I am loving the grunge look. Grunge was popular back in the early ’90s and recently has taken over a few of the spring 2017 ready-to-wear runway shows. The trend originated from the punk rock music style and generally contains oversized, torn clothing. The modern take, thankfully, adds a little glam!
To achieve this look, I started with high-waisted black torn jeans and black booties. I paired the jeans with a pale pink shirt giving some contrast to the dark colors and helping me incorporate some modern day glam, which I feel is desperately needed. When it comes to accessories, I’m all about the choker trend, another throwback look that I embrace in most of my outfits. I chose a skinny black choker with a gold jewel, as well as a longer pendant necklace to add more layers to my outfit. Most importantly, I threw on an oversized vintage denim jacket (shoutout to my mom) to really complete my grunge look.
I find it easy to get lost in a sea of endless trends, however, it’s always ok to experiment and try something new! I sport a different fashion piece every week. The greatest part about fashion is the ability to throw yourself all in and be unique. You’ll never know if you don’t try!
