For the longest time, I refrained from trying on or wearing midi skirts with the mistaken belief that it would make my petite frame look even shorter; however, I noticed that midi skirts and dresses began emerging on fashion scenes such as fashion runways, designers’ racks and street style photos.
After eyeing midi skirts and dresses enviously from runway and designer collections, I decided to take the plunge and purchased the most beautiful yet quirky midi skirt with a musical notes print. My biggest inspiration for this look is from the Carolina Herrera fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The whole collection gives off an ethereal yet futuristic look.
There is no denying that midi skirts are timeless—they create such a dreamy and romantic feel. The length somehow makes me feel like a graceful princess twirling around in a ballroom in an imaginary castle. With different textures, styles and prints, midi skirts are so versatile and can be styled up or down.
I wanted to keep the midi skirt the “hero” of this outfit, so I paired it with a delicate black lace top. Crop tops and delicate tops that are tucked in are great staples to have. When paired with anything high-waisted, it creates such an effortlessly sophisticated, chic and feminine look.
To toughen up the outfit and give it a little edge, I slipped on some brown cutout buckled booties. I also added a gold statement necklace and midi rings on my right index finger to create the ultimate whimsical yet feminine outfit.
