The spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection by Elie Saab wowed on a dark catwalk with neon lights. The models strutted down the runway with windblown hair and fierce makeup, complete with a smoky eye and teal liner. Bold floral and geometric patterns complemented the blues, oranges, blacks and whites of the collection, which featured sexy jumpsuits, lace details and flowing fabrics. While chic shorts, blouses and rompers were shown on the catwalk, maxi dresses were dominant in this sexy and sassy runway show.
Inspired by the runway and the rising summer temperatures, I decided to try out the maxi dress trend for myself. I opted for a simple maxi dress in a bold color, similar to the teal hue featured in the collection. The lightweight flowy fabric of the dress is perfect for combating summer heat and is flattering on all body types. Maxi dresses are also great because you can dress it up for a romantic date night or down for brunch with the girls.
Taking advantage of another popular trend this season, I styled my maxi dress with a pair of metallic gold sandals and a gold studded bag. Metallic accessories are very trendy right now and the gold details complemented the bold color of my dress. I completed my summery look with a statement necklace, white nail polish and beachy waves.
While I only have a few maxi dresses in my closet, Elie Saab’s spring collection was full of floor length must-haves. Saab experimented with high slits and plummeting necklines to create sexy silhouettes that wowed on the runway. From strapless to one-shoulder and long sleeve to sleeveless, the collection featured a variety of maxi dress styles. Whether it’s a simple white dress or an elaborate chiffon gown, whatever maxi you choose to sport this summer, it is sure to heat things up.
