Here at DAAP (College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning) we have what is called “Hell Week.” You might think that the name is a little inaccurate and you would be right, it’s much worse than it sounds. For many college students, regardless of their major, the last week of the semester is a mad dash to the finish line.
I have been working nonstop to wrap up projects before the clock strikes 12:00 p.m. In stressful times like these, where I’m in the studio all day, I definitely chose comfort and convenience over style. I feel like I have been living in the studio so I have been selecting clothing that is comfortable or maybe the first thing I find lying on that floor that is clean (hopefully). But it’s the last week so with any luck all my hard work will pay off and in a few days I can finally relax and catch up on some much needed sleep.
For this post I felt like dressing in black. After all, black is the unofficial uniform of the designer. I took inspiration from the Kaelen resort 2016 collection. Look after look showed playful proportions and bold black and white ensembles. Dressing in all-black can get a little posh for my taste, that’s why I am drawn to these casual looking pieces. To incorporate this into my own outfit, I played with the proportion and comfort. I am wearing a slightly oversized sleeveless tunic shirtdress that falls just above my knees. Underneath I wear a pair of roomy harem pants. To help make my look less heavy I have on some white and black sandals. I continue to accessories with oversized sunglasses and a chunky chocker necklace. Highlights such as these pull the look together so I don’t look too sloppy as I was going for a baggier and less formal Holly Golightly.
Get My Look: 1. Black tunic dress. 2. Comfortable harem pants. 3. Crisscross sandals.
