Florals: to wear or not to wear, that is the ultimate summer style question. For the longest time, I strayed from floral patterns to avoid the risk of looking like I made my clothes out of curtains á la The Sound of Music. But taking inspiration from the Céline spring 2015 ready-to-wear show I mustered up the courage to give it a go.
Along with the typical clean-cut structure of Céline, the show featured an unexpected floral pattern. The larger florals in the print keep it modern and reduce your risk of being mistaken as the long lost Von Trapp child. Although floral is not typical of a Céline show, the other trends of the show are true to the classic Céline look, and the balance between the two is a great combination. I was most inspired by the black dresses in the show. The bright, red floral prints on the black dresses are really eye-catching.
I took inspiration from this runway trend and applied it to my own wardrobe. I paired a simple, black crop top with a circle skirt. The skirt I chose was inspired from the black dresses with the red floral print. I love the way the red flowers really pop on the black dresses, but I toned it down in the skirt and picked out with a more faded print. Paired with the plain black top and nude shoes, the skirt gets the spotlight.
Get My Look: 1. Simple black shirt. 2. Floral skirt (A-line or circle skirt). 3. Nude shoes.
