STYLE GURU STYLE: Off-The-Shoulder With A Nice Bottom

This week, we’re going to take a runway look and make it our own. Our main focus is going to be on the off-the-shoulder solid top paired with a flowy pattern with an eye-catching pattern. In São Paulo spring 2015 fashion show, Animale showcased two looks that captured this vision. The first model is wearing a fitted black off-the-shoulder blouse that wraps around her like a ribbon. With it she wore high-waisted pants with horizontal and vertical stripes in blocked patterns. Although she wasn’t wearing any jewelry, the sequential pattern on her pants pulled the entire look together. While this looks more like a jumpsuit, the second model with the off-the-shoulder top wore an all-black dress which revealed part of her waist. I loved these looks because they are appropriate for any formal event. The amount of skin revealed in each look puts a modern twist to the traditional formal attire.

Being the color lover that I am, I had to ditch the black and white look for something a little more pigmented. To keep up with the sequential theme of the bottom, I paired my favorite black and brown Aztec maxi skirt with a one piece off-the-shoulder top in turquoise from Forever 21. I added a brassy peach necklace and an icy blue handbag to create some accents. Although places such as New York & Company can charge a lot for some of these pieces, this look can be recreated without the need to break open your piggy bank.

Get My Look:  1. Crop top. 2. A skirt with a sequential pattern. 3. Strappy wedges.
