Flares are a major wardrobe staple, and I am all for catching that ’70s fever. Band of Outsiders and their 2011-2012 autumn-winter fashion show will agree, and rocking some John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever vibes is okay with me! We can see from bold plaids to vibrant greens and blues, and of course my favorite, the flared pants. I had never actually envisioned myself wearing that kind of outfit, but it was stuck in my head for weeks, so when I finally got the chance, I did not think twice and I made the purchase! However, we are plunging into summer at a fast pace, which means that I can’t wear the full look meant for the chillier temperatures. So instead, I decided to make a summer creation out of it.
About the look. First of all, I am absolutely obsessed with the loving flares at the bottom (no surprise there), as well as the white patterns on these pants. They are playfully boho, which brings me to my second point: the purse. What I love most about fashion is the fact that I am able to transport myself through time with just changing my clothes; I can be in a different time and place each day. That being said, the purse blends perfectly with this ’70s item, adding a modern-gypsy touch to it, but still allowing it to remain the center of attention. Last, but not least, I added a black hat. I will admit I forgot to put my sunscreen on (do not forget your sunscreen!), but the main reason why I decided to add it to the ensemble was to up my chic game a little more; and because it is by far my favorite item to wear. This is why playing around with the accessories is a must. It is very easy for your clothes to take the main stage while you step aside and cheer, which is why you need to find the right balance that will allow you to stand out all together.
On a side note, I understand that it can be quite overwhelming just thinking about stepping out of your comfort zone fashion wise. I was not even sure that I would be able to pull off these pants to be honest, but once you allow your outfit choices to become an extension of your actual self, that is when you start living la vida fashion! Cheesym but true.
