On the brink of fall, and with New York Fashion Week still on all of our minds, I found myself looking for inspiration and trends for the upcoming season both on campus and on the runway. The Tom Ford fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection caught my eye immediately, as I noticed how much denim was incorporated, and how easily that translates into my own campus style. In knee-length skirts, jackets, dresses—denim was front and center. Tom Ford’s looks showed just how fashion forward this basic fabric can be, and how something we’ve been wearing most of our lives is about to be redefined in a whole new way.
When you think about denim, or about your favorite pair of jeans, what comes to mind? For me, it’s about simplicity. Headed to campus, I throw on a simple white tank and my favorite pair of denim overalls. I’ll stay cool and comfortable, and I know I can wear them well into fall, too. I opted for my kate spade navy polka-dot bag, adding a touch of elegance while still keeping that “country charm.” You’d be amazed at how much this small bag can hold for my entire day—tablet, pencils and pens, notepad, snacks and even a change of shoes! The navy color provides versatility, and carries the perfect amount of sass for any ensemble! This look is just what every Fashionista needs transitioning into fall. From the quad to the bright lights on the runway, denim will always have a place in our lives.
