It could be said that CollegeFashionista is a site mostly for people who want to wear something other than their pajamas to class every day. Normally, I would say that I am of that mindset. However, I have nothing against being cozy, and some days I just can’t fathom the idea of putting on real clothes.
Now, contrary to what we have all thought, it may actually be okay to leave the house in pajamas. If Kate Moss and Rihanna are rocking sleepwear in the streets, it must be cool. The pajamas for the day trend was even present in the Michael Kors fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection in the form of this women’s two-piece set and this men’s look featuring a nightshirt. As someone who loves silky fabrics and anything soft, I was really excited when I saw these pieces on the runway. Kors makes comfort look posh rather than lazy. After seeing these runway looks, I have taken to disguising my pajamas and wearing them out of the house.
So, in the vain of Michael Kors, Rihanna and Kate Moss, here is how to wear your sleepwear as streetwear. For me, this outfit consists of a jersey tank and some cotton lounge pants from Free People. The key to this look is making it seem intentional and luxurious rather than untidy. That means adding accessories that make it look like you didn’t just roll out of bed and avoiding your Hello Kitty printed pajama pants. To achieve this, I opted for barely there makeup, suede Chelsea boots and tied my scarf around my purse to add a sense of personal style. With these small touches, I can definitely justify wearing my pajamas to class.
Get My Look: 1. Airy lounge pants. 2. A soft tank top. 3. A patterned scarf to dress up your school bag.
