Carrying pastels into fall and winter is how I keep things bright even through the drabbest of days. This outfit may be relaxed but I decided to let my colors do the talking.
I was very inspired by the Gucci fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection. There was a lot of mixing of pastels that kept the whole show light and airy while still making everything look chic and classic. I also loved how vintage as well as cohesive these pieces in the collection looked. This is what influenced me to buy this nicely tailored blue coat. To downplay very dressy pieces seen on the runway, I took a more casual approach.
I started with slightly ripped blue skinny jeans then added a light pink blouse to dress it up a bit more and create a nice mix. I love the idea of mixing various textures so that you you can either look dressed up or down. Since it was a particularly windy day in Chicago, I threw on a white infinity scarf for walking around outside.
The focal point of this outfit is the pastel blue coat that I purchased from Forever 21. I love how the wide collar on this coat makes it look even nicer and visually appealing. I also had a knee length cardigan underneath for extra warmth. To top of the whole look I wanted to put an edgy spin by throwing on spiked turquoise and suede shoes to counterbalance the other fabrics I am wearing. Keeping it clean, I wore simple and natural makeup with the Butt Naked – Underneath it All Palette by NYX.
