More often than not, when I should be doing something productive I can be found reading style blogs or Buzzed articles. The other morning I was following my usual procrastination routine when I stumble upon a post called “16 Style Lessons Learned From Sex And The City“. One of these style lessons was inspired by the Carrie Bradshaw quote, “I’ve never understood sexy lingerie. I mean, what’s the point? The guy’s only going to take it off.” It advised readers to “Take your lingerie to the streets—where it can be better appreciated.” Upon reading the article I wasn’t sure how that tip could be practically and tastefully applied, until I continued my procrastination and stumbled upon look sixteen in Iro‘s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The look features a cute black bandeau complimented by a high-waisted skirt and a loosely knit black sweater.
My look was directly inspired by this Iro look. In an attempt to put a sexier twist on my everyday winter look, an oversized sweater with leggings, I reached for a more loosely knit sweater, my favorite bustier top, and a pair of high-waisted leggings in the same color as my bustier. As a result of the bold statement made by the outfit itself, I kept the colors and accessories relatively simple. I chose to color-block my outfit, accessorizing with the jewelry that I never take off, my Alex and Ani bangles and rose gold watch. I also added a long necklace with a bejeweled owl pendent that sat between my bustier and leggings to slightly break up the look.
Get My Look: 1. A light or open knit sweater to show off your favorite bustier or bralette. 2. A favorite bustier or bralette. 3. Every girl needs a pair of fringed boots, believe me.
