Patterned pieces are always a fun way to add your personality to a simple outfit. Whether you’re a lover of stripes, polka-dots, lace or florals, adding that little extra design can take a look from average to amazing.
When I saw the alice + olivia 2016 resort collection I fell in love with all of the patterns that were utilized and they were placed in such a way that it didn’t feel overdone or messy. The range of color schemes was great too as it included the classic black and white along with fun yellows and mints that fit into every summer wardrobe.
A pattern that I adore from the collection is the paisley print as it was used in the first two dresses and a couple of shirts as well. The kimono that I wore was very similar to the prints and colors from the collection. Plus they have been almost everyone’s go-to this season and they transform the tank top and shorts combo from simple to stylish.
I also incorporated a cross-body bag with a little bit of fringe that resembled the fringe poncho in one of the collection’s outfits. Mixing patterns with different textures can seem scary at first, but the key is to not wear too many statement pieces at once. By wearing a small amount of fringe, I can keep that element with my fun patterned kimono.
Since I couldn’t decide on which necklace to wear, I wore two! Layering short and long necklaces is another way of adding dimension to your look.
Get My Look: 1. Paisley kimono. 2. Fringe purse. 3. Layered necklace.
