Sonia Rykiel‘s pre-fall 2015 line, designed by Julie de Libran, proves that cold weather wear can move beyond bulky parkas and overbearing fabrics. The collection features a mix of immaculate looks that emphasize thick, patterned tights, knit dresses and fur coats/accents. And while the line seems almost too chic for its prescribed use, these materials will definitely help keep you warm when temperatures begin to drop. Rykiel also utilizes plaid patterns throughout her collection, which adds the essential laid-back feel to a line that manages to appear effortlessly chic amidst an array of textures, colors and designs. Buckled heels also give extra flair to each ensemble to maintain the line’s feminine aesthetic. From structured coats to a-line dresses and even jumpsuits, the French line seems reminiscent of Gossip Girl‘s impeccable wardrobe. And if it calls to mind the likes of Blair and Serena, it is easy to see why it won’t be too hard to convince consumers to jump into these beautiful designs.
Inspired by the plaid detail of Rykiel’s collection, I pieced together my own look using some quintessential elements of the line. I paired a thick wool sweater with a structured army-style coat as supplements to the main attraction of my outfit: the plaid skirt. Following the model’s look, I topped off my look with a soft beanie, tights and some ankle boots with gold buckle details. This cozy outfit proved to provide the perfect balance between between casual and sophisticated.
Get My Look: 1. A plaid skirt 2. An army-style jacket 3. A thick, gray sweater.
