Before any major holiday or family event I always spend time planning out my outfits to avoid the stress of getting ready the day of! For Thanksgiving, I wanted something that was comfortable, yet still dressed up enough to be acceptable at Grandma’s house. This year, I incorporated my current obsession for fall and winter: plaid. Plaid is not a new pattern to be introduced to the fashion world. The classic look has been rotating around for years, and has been styled differently by different designers. I truly fell in love with the trend when I saw kate spade’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. There was a plaid pattern incorporated in almost every look, and I loved how she used plaid as various statement pieces. This collection really showed the evolution of plaid from basic skirts and flannels to innovative looks that take the pattern to a new level.
Since seeing the runway trend, I have ventured from my comfortable and usual plaid flannel shirts and started getting various accessories to incorporate the classic pattern into my every day style. I put together this look by making my plaid scarf the focal point out my outfit. I paired with a neutral suede skirt and white T-shirt to really bring out the vibrant reds in the scarf. The best thing about a scarf is how versatile it is, and how it can easily dress up any outfit with little to no effort. When running to class, throw on a patterned scarf with some jeans or leggings to look put together in no time! I kept my jewelry simple and just wore simple stud earrings and my favorite ring to add a little bit of sparkle to my cozy holiday look.
