Just about anything black incorporated with a hint of plaid will always catch my eye when choosing my next ensemble for class or a night out with the girls. I love sticking with my main pieces, but it never hurts to throw in something extra every once in a while. Falling in love with the Julien David resort 2016 collection, I combined formal and casual pieces to give off a fun, leisurely vibe, which is exactly what David projected with his collection. For this outfit, I focused mainly on pairing my patterns, followed by sticking with the dark toned color palette that David used in majority of his collection.
For today’s look, I chose a Forever 21 polka-dot bodysuit under a plaid, red and black, high-waisted, loose fitted pencil skirt. To set the look off, I wore a brown side bag with black ankle strapped sandals and my hair in two high ponytails to keep the inspired fun vibe by David going. Having fun with your clothes can always be easy. My goal for this outfit was to show versatility. This leads back to why I chose to mix my patterns while sticking with a similar color scheme throughout both pieces. The polka-dots in my top and thin plaid stripes of my skirt both counterbalance each other. These pieces came together to show a trendy and casual look. The versatility of the outfit is my favorite because simply switching the sandals to ankle strapped heels and the side bag to a shiny clutch and you are ready for a night out on the town.
Get My Look: 1. Any polka-dot shirt. 2. A plaid pencil skirt. 3. Ankle strapped sandals.
