STYLE GURU STYLE: Pop Goes My Heart

Summer is my favorite season. The weather is warm and the cool, neutral tones of winter have been replaced by lighter and brighter fashions. Sometimes, a Fashionista wants to get in the summer spirit without looking like a beach towel.

I found summer style inspiration in the Bottega Veneta resort 2016 collection, where casual neutrals were paired with bright pops of color as well as colors paired with one another. Easing into summer colors can be difficult, but luckily for me, my bright kate spade bag made recreating a casual look with a pop of color simple.

Kimonos are a big trend right now, and I love the lace detail on this one. I tend to gravitate towards pieces that have a vintage look, and this kimono is one of those pieces that looks like it could be from another decade but is actually brand new. I swear by my little secret website that I go to for completely unique pieces (where I found this kimono), Mod Owl.

I have a bunch of tank tops like the one I wear here, and they come in all different colors. A colorful tank top is an easy swap for a pop of color in this outfit, perfect for Fashionistas/os who don’t carry a bag or who just want to change up the look.

I paired my neutral upper half with a pair of skinny jeans from Zara and my favorite sandals from Michael Kors. My bottom half was relatively simple because I didn’t want to detract from the kimono or bag.

Overall, I wanted to ease into summer style with a pop of color instead of going overboard with the entire rainbow. I noticed in the Bottega Veneta collection that the looks varied between dominating neutrals and overall color. I thought that this was similar to my transition into my summer wardrobe.

Get My Look: 1. A bright bag 2. Any neutral kimono or jacket 3. Classic tank top.
