Ahh, pink! What is it about this rosy hue that has captured my heart? I think I fell in love with the color when I obsessively watched Legally Blonde throughout my middle school years and when I saw my vintage fashion inspiration, Andie, from the ’80s film Pretty in Pink, create her iconic prom dress. From hot pink, to neon pink, to blush pink, the shades of the lovely color are endless. Â Every hue has the ability to channel a different personality, but my favorite has always been the dusty pastel shade.
I have always loved a great trench coat but to take it up a notch, I opted for the rosy color and detailed ruffles. This ultra feminine jacket is both classic, fun, and most importantly, comfortable. To keep the look from appearing too girly, I paired it with an A-line black velvet dress. There is something about velvet that just instantly makes any outfit appear luxurious! To complete the outfit, I decided to go with a pair of faux snakeskin kitten heels. The ’80s trend is so unexpected in a sea of three inch heels. Don’t get me wrong, I will always be on board with sky high stilettos, but being a college student I have learned that comfort is essential when walking from class to class. All in all, I’ve decided to name this look Audrey Hepburn meets the updated version of Wednesday Addams.
Pastel pink is a gorgeous color to ring in the new year with. Even my 2017 planner is rocking the shade! I’m ready to kick off the year organized and in style. As always, stay fabulous.
