The arrival of spring signifies the beginning of warm weather and time for a change in your wardrobe. The new season is an opportunity to revamp your style and cultivate an entirely new look. Away with your heavy sweaters, jackets and scarves because it’s time to break out your favorite dresses, skirts and shorts.
Taking inspiration from Ace & Jig’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I combined textures and prints to create a seasonally inspired look. Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan, Ace & Jig’s head designers, draw creative inspiration from natural materials and bold prints. A distinguishing trait of Wilson and Vaughan’s collections is a focus on warm colors, which is evident in the spring 2016 pieces. The textiles are perhaps what set Ace & Jig apart from other designers. Woven on hand looms, and with fabrics ranging from antique French linens to Indian quilts, the collection is mainly focused on everyday, ready-to-wear clothing for Fashionistas ready to embrace spring and summer.
My outfit is influenced by the collection’s fabrics and prints. The loose cotton pants feature a simple flowery pattern, much like Ace & Jig’s fabrics. These pants are a hybrid between harem pants and joggers and are ideal for spring. To contrast the simple texture of the cotton pants, I opted for a diamond pattern, textured top. The bodycon fit of the top pairs well with the high-waist loose fit of the pants and altogether creates a streamlined look.
For jewelry, I chose simple sterling silver bangles and rings. I believe modest jewelry pairs well with these kinds of fabrics and patterns because anything flashier might detract from the rest of the outfit.
