STYLE GURU STYLE: Printed Skirts

Hello again, Fashionista/os! The end of winter doesn’t seem to be getting any closer, and I’m getting really tired of sliding my way to class and wearing the same old boots everyday. All I’ve wanted these past few weeks is to wear a cute dress and not have to cover it up with a coat. So I did. My legs turned a weird shade of blue by the time my classes were done for the day. Luckily, about a week later the weather took a turn for the better and it hit a whopping 35 degrees, just warm enough for a crazy printed skirt!

Lately I’ve been drooling over Milly’s spring 2015 runway show and all of the glorious, funky patterns that covered skirts, jackets and crop tops. Michelle Smith, designer for Milly, got me excited for all black and white ensembles for spring as well. The patterns that walked down Milly’s runway were colorful and perfectly designed. Boss also showed some pattern at his spring show. The patterns that donned Boss’s garments were structured and sophisticated, unlike Milly’s colorful, fun patterns. This skirt has been one of my favorites for a while now, and paired with an angora sweater that I got for six dollars at a thrift shop (yes, six dollars!) it makes for a perfect comfy winter outfit. Patterned skirts are one of the easiest ways to make an oversized sweater feel special.

Don’t be afraid of some fun prints! Patterned skirts are a great addition to every wardrobe and they can easily transition from work to a night out on the town with your girls. If skirts are too much of a risk, try it on a blazer or a pair of shoes first!

Get My Look: 1. A fun skirt. 2. A soft sweater. 3. A statement necklace.
