STYLE GURU STYLE: Prom Remix

I have been to prom twice in my life. I went my freshman year of high school and I went my senior year. It’s been awhile since then, but I still have both dresses I wore. It seems like such a waste to spend so much money on something that’s only deemed appropriate to wear once and for a very specific occasion. Luckily for me, going to prom my freshman year let me learn a few tricks, so by the time my senior prom came around, I knew what to splurge on and what to save on. The truth is I spent under a hundred dollars on my prom dress. Thanks Macy’s!

I wanted to be able to wear my prom dress multiple times. It’s so pretty that it’s not fair that it only gets to see the light of day only once. For my prom dresses revival, I was inspired by Versace’s fall 2015 couture show. The way the gowns move fluidly remind me of the draping of my own prom dress. Similar colors to my dress were also reflected in the collection.

Summers on Long Island are always beautiful. The one downside (if you can even call it that) is being so close to the water can be a breezy once the sun sets. My trusty white cropped sweater is the hero in this story. If you can’t tell, it’s falling apart because I wear it too much, and I refuse to get rid of it. Shoes aren’t needed if you’re spending the night in the sand, but a pair of strappy sandals like these are perfect for grabbing a late dinner or ice cream. It ended up looking like I was wearing a regular maxi skirt and a cropped sweater! No one will know you’re wearing your prom dress and you’ll be glowing from wearing something so luxurious and having a secret all to yourself.

Get My Look: 1. A prom dress. 2. A cropped sweater. 3. Lavender eyeshadow.
