As a college student in New England, I have three priorities when picking out clothes at this time of year: warmth, price, and, of course, cuteness. Armed with $20 and these three values, if you walk into any thrift shop I promise you’ll will find something that meets your style! Well, maybe not the first thrift shop you go to, but the hunt for the perfect outfit for an insanely cheap price is what makes thrift shopping so exhilarating.
My latest find was the oversize plum knit sweater that I’m wearing in the picture.  There’s something just so cozy yet so stylish about an oversize sweater paired with skinny jeans, or even leggings if you’re in need of some extra comfort. Â
The first time I wore this outfit, I spent the entire day in the library drinking coffee after coffee and studying for a final. Honestly, I think that’s exactly the type of day that oversize knit sweaters are made for. If you do end up sporting a similar outfit with a big chunky sweater and tight jeans, I’d definitely recommend the accessory of your favorite type of coffee in hand! Some similar sweaters can be found at Stella McCartney, Michael Kors, Nordstrom, your relatives’ closets, and—of course—the loveable, local thrift shop. Â
For shoes, I’m wearing my favorite pair of yellow Timberland boots. They’re crazy warm and have great traction for walking around an icy campus. It’s a huge bonus that they add a pop of color to most outfits and are also super cute. The one negative of wearing these boots though is that I’ve found that if I ever wear them around any relatives, they’re bound to make a comment about how I must be off to some construction site. So far I haven’t needed them for any construction purposes, but hey, I like having my options open.
