Do you ever find yourself gravitating toward looks that a 13-year-old boy would wear? Maybe that’s just me.
I’ll bring up the elephant in the room right away–socks and sandals, I know. So this may seem odd to you, but I have really been digging this look, maybe it’s because I’m a frat boy at heart. However, designers seem to have been digging this look too. Most notably, in 3.1 Phillip Lim’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection, you can spot some heavy-duty socks and sandals looks.
For a base, I went for my new favorite pair of jeans. I caved and committed to the Levi’s Wedgie Fit jeans and honestly, the hype doesn’t lie, I think everyone should own a pair. On top, I went for a cool Star Wars themed graphic T-shirt, from the men’s section, because what else would I want to wear? In fact, I think I want to be buried in this shirt.
The socks and sandals combo came together with a pair of white ribbed crew socks and the classic adidas slide sandals (Velcro included). To balance the look with some trendier pieces and to tie together the norm-core aesthetic, I added an olive green bomber jacket with a slightly satin finish.
This is honestly one of my favorite looks at the moment, purely for its cool factor. Also, to be honest, I think this socks and sandal thing means we should all just become dads who sit in lawn chairs on the driveway.
