STYLE GURU STYLE: RIP Summer Sixteen

Don’t get me wrong, summer sixteen was a rad one. Full of off-the-shoulder tops, high-waisted Levi’s and, of course, the revival of the ’90s choker, it was most definitely one for the books. Although it was a great summer, I can’t help but squeal along with every other girl across the nation in anticipation for the upcoming fall season. Come on, who could blame us? We’ve been awaiting our beloved apple cider, crunchy leaves and dark lipstick for a while now.

Much to my dismay, summer has been quite drawn out where I live. The Midwest has been doing me dirty (not clean) by taking its sweet, sweet time to cool off. My prayers have been answered, and it’s finally time. Summer sixteen has come to an end and my wardrobe is, just like Drake said, looking for revenge.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been stockpiling outfits to wear for some of my classic fall-y occasions including, but not limited to, getting lost in a corn field or burning a batch of pumpkin bread—yikes. A typical fall outfit for me is a cool graphic tee, a suede jacket with silver hardware and ripped black jeans. My Pinterest boards resemble that of an early ’00s girl hung up on a “Sk8er Boi,” filled with Thrasher merchandise. Deceivingly enough, I’ve never even touched a skateboard. I’m not that cool. If I attempted to ride a skateboard, I would more than likely eat it. But hey, I guess that would explain the rips in my jeans, right?
