Ripped jeans have been weaving in and out of style over the past few years. However many of the fall/winter 2015 collections display the ripped-pants style as the latest trend for pants. The Ashley Williams fall 2015 collection includes an array of outfits consisting of solid black pants ripped at the knees. Throughout the collection, these ripped bottoms are paired with mainly solid black tops and all black accessories, like heels and hats. However, there is a subtle hint of pattern here and there. The monochromatic style of these particular looks emphasize and highlight the uniqueness of these pants, as well as the patterned aspects of the look.
This week, I decided to take a personal spin on this trend. To keep with the mainly monochromatic style, I paired black ripped jeans with a solid black sweatshirt. Black on black is my usual style, so it was pretty simple to put this outfit together. However, to make it more exciting, just like in the collection, I added a little bit of color and contrast. A monochromatic black outfit is the perfect blank easel to paint on some accessories of unique contrasting colors and patterns.
Unlike the eccentric gloves or hats in the Ashley Williams fall 2015 collection, I chose to go with more practical accessories that contrasted against my all-black look. To finish off my outfit, I wore a camel-colored oversized scarf and bright white adidas Superstar sneakers. The oversized scarf was not only to keep warm (it is still very cold in London) but also to incorporate a color into my ensemble that I do not typically wear. The white sneakers, on the other hand, are a big trend in the city right now. Their bright white color paired with darker pieces makes them stand out as one of the centerpieces of my outfit.
The Ashley Williams fall 2015 collection gave me inspiration to try something new with my ripped jeans and my monochromatic black style. Many looks in the collection inspired me to go outside the box and add some unique accessories to a color-simplistic outfit.
