I am head over heels for Zuhair Murad’s spring couture collection. The beautifully embellished gowns had me wishing I had a red carpet event to attend. I double-checked my planner, but saw only a week full of classes. Murad’s use of tulle gave a lovely vintage feel to the designs, and the already elaborate gowns were strewn with crystals, embroidery and other details. Features like plunging necklines and sheer fabric brought the show back to date. Maybe it has something to do with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, but these romantic looks had me yearning for some lace in my life.
I searched the furthest depths of my three feet deep college closet for something extra girly and managed to find a lace dress that’s been hopelessly abandoned since the special occasion I wore it too. It has silver thread throughout which subtly mimics the decorated Zuhair dresses. To dress it down for everyday wear, I paired it with gray ribbed tights and layered one of my all-time favorite sweaters on top. My heeled booties are covered in a muted floral pattern, though I might suggest a more practical pair of kicks in this snow.
This spring 2015 show inspired me to turn a dressier item from my closet into a casual, class worthy outfit. I’ll be looking for any and every excuse to bring more lace and tulle into my closet this spring.
Get My Look: 1. A feminine lace dress. 2. Sweater tights to keep you warm. 3. A cozy cardigan.
