Derek Lam’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection is where I first noticed rust being featured on the runway. The line featured different variations and styles of the color. Rust appears in sweaters, skirts, pant suits, shirts and more throughout the line. Rust is seemingly a fall shade but it can be made to work all year round! See how I turned this regularly fall shade into the perfect summer wedding look.
I recently attended a wedding in Washington, D.C. When I saw this rust dress, it caught my attention and I thought it would definitely make a statement. The color was something that I didn’t have in my wardrobe and I thought it was a very flattering shade. I love how it mocks the shorter version of the knot front, open back dress that a lot of girls seem to be wearing this summer! However it has a twist with the added fabric to the sides turning it into a maxi dress. I paired it with this beautiful necklace that I found at H&M to give it a boho edge. It’s from the H&M Loves Coachella line. I loved the idea of the line and I figured I had to purchase something from it. I paired it with faux wood heeled sandals that I found at Target on clearance for 10 dollars! I love a good bargain. Everything that I purchased was inexpensive and the entire outfit was under 50 dollars. I also paired the look with my everyday rings. I decided to take the concept of the rust color from the runway and translate into my own look by wearing a fierce dress in that shade. Rust is a definite must!
