I adore the idea of taking an afternoon sail on the sea with a bottle of wine and board full of French cheese. Though that has unfortunately not been on my agenda this summer, I love that this season’s trends have allowed me to still feel (and look) just as nautical as ever. Inspired by the sophistication and French flair of the Antonio Marras resort 2017 collection, I aimed to marry the French Riviera vibe with my own classic style.
The Sardinian designer’s line is lush with floral prints juxtaposed against nautical stripes and antique Chinese patterns. The color palette is rich in bold colors such as cobalt blue and scarlet red and is balanced through soft, flowing silhouettes. One of the main elements of the collection focused around the designer’s variation of stripes. An abundant number of looks in the collection uses stripes as a visual vehicle of movement to continue the nautical-inspired theme. Marras created a portrait of looks that embody the grace of a 19th century lady with the whimsy of the modern woman.
While looking at the collection I was greatly drawn to the striped looks and knew I wanted to incorporate the pattern into my own look. I paired a navy linen drawstring pant with a striped lace-up top from Madewell. I popped on a sturdy pair of leather sandals and tied a red bandana around my neck to mimic the scarlet from the collection it was inspired by. For the final touch, I put my hair in braids and was ready to set sail.
Get My Look: 1. Drawstring pant. 2. Lace-up striped top. 3. Red bandana.
