STYLE GURU STYLE: Simple Lines

I believe that one of the most important things in fashion is a silhouette. Colors and patterns come second, and the right silhouette by itself can create an unforgettable look. Stella McCartney’s resort 2016 collection is all about sleek and unique silhouettes. The collection starts with a fun take on a classic shirt dress, moves on to an embodied  “Twiggy” kind of dress and ends with a floor-length bright coral dress. This collection is very diverse, has multiple themes and various patterns including horses, flowers and zebra print. This collection has both bright and nude colors and many interesting accents.

For my look, I got inspiration from the very first dress of the collection. A light blue shirt dress with a slit on a side and a dramatic accent on the hips caught my attention right away. It’s very different from what you usually see, and I am in love with the simplicity of it. This dress, combined with a slicked back hair and simple white shoes, is the main focal point of the outfit. To create my look I decided to wear a striped shirt-dress, similar in length and with similar slits on the sides. This dress is very comfortable, easy to throw on, yet it looks very put together and feels fashion-forward. I added minimal accessories, including embellished platform sandals and nude “lunchbox” purse. Both accessories go well along with the dress, without overbearing the outfit. I also wore my everyday glasses and a simple silver ring.  This look is perfect for day wear or for a semi-fancy event like your school’s fashion show.
