I can’t think of anything better than embracing sleepwear as daywear. Up on the trend radar following Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week is all things slips, camisoles and sleepwear-inspired.
I’ve been dipping my toes into this trend for a while after purchasing a beautiful black slip dress from ASOS. The super sexy vibe that this look entails is a surefire confidence booster.
With the ‘90s trends still looming over us all, it’s no surprise that spaghetti strap, silky camisoles and tank tops have made a strong reappearance. Emilio Pucci did it in his spring 2016 ready-to-wear show and a handful of designers brought this look to life for fall 2016 as well.
Saint Laurent’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection owned this trend though, and of course I couldn’t resist taking inspiration from these looks.
Pairing silky and flowing camisoles with contrasting textures makes the look more wearable. To avoid looking like you just rolled out of bed, add a pair of boyfriend jeans to transform this top from bedroom to classroom.
To make this look my own, I went for some more unique pieces. The paint splattered white denim adds a grungy vibe without being overpowering, and the maxi cardigan balances the look with softness and femininity.
To top it all off, I added a pair of unique shoes that are inspired by Kate Bosworth’s Matisse collaboration from last year. My go-to fashion tip for a killer look is to focus on footwear. There is nothing that spices up an outfit like a pair of unique shoes.
Get My Look: 1. Silky camisole. 2. Distressed jeans. 3. Maxi cardigan. 4. Funky footwear.
