I just recently got back to California from Indiana, and I’ve already jumped back into things at home with work, summer school and writing for all of you (the best part.) While I was doing some of my summer school work online this past week, I decided to take a break and do some real homework—fashion homework. I started looking up recent runway shows and new trends (all the good stuff) when I came across the Victoria Beckham spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.
I have always been a fan of Posh Spice, and I am obsessed with her family and how she dresses them, so when I found her spring runway show, I fell in love. Her collection is one of “uniform,” and I love how she put together simple pieces and elements to make trendy outfits. She also included a variety of belts in her collection which play on her famously known silhouettes. One of my favorite sections of the show was the stripes section and more specifically, this striped dress.
I’ve always loved stripes, and I am usually pretty subtle when I wear them. But when I saw Beckham’s collection, I immediately went out and purchased my own striped midi dress. Stripes are a fun and easy pattern to work with, especially for pattern beginners. They are simple and can be matched with fun colors or even other patterns for more pattern experts. I decided to pair my new striped dress with a thin cheetah belt, a fun statement necklace, stacked bracelets and simple black heels. I love heels and I embrace my 5″11′ height, but black flats or black sandals would have worked with this outfit as well. For a nighttime look, you could throw on a leather jacket or even a denim jacket if you wish to be more casual.
Bravo, Victoria! This collection has inspired me, and I hope it will inspire some of you Fashionistas/os this summer to step out of the box and try something new!
