STYLE GURU STYLE: Springtime Stripes

Hey Fashionistas/os! Who is excited for spring fashion? I know I sure am. I’m already dying over all the new sandals and skirts that keep haunting me on my Wanelo news feed. Thank goodness the groundhog saw his shadow because I am ready to take off my winter coat and slip into a sundress. This month I have a look for you that is the perfect transition outfit for those awkward days between winter and spring. This look is inspired by Ralph Lauren’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The Ralph Lauren collection is full of nautical colors and stripes of all different widths and directions.

After viewing the collection, I was inspired by the maxi dresses that were completely covered with fine stripes. The button-down skirt I am wearing imitates the dresses to create an everyday, street style piece. I paired the striped skirt with a cropped Topshop sweater, which keeps me warm on the cooler days. Once it gets warmer, I can swap out the sweater for a fun graphic T-shirt. For shoes, I am wearing a pair of light brown cage heels that could easily be switched into sneakers for a more comfortable, class-appropriate look.

When it comes to accessories, I am wearing a fringe, wine-colored bucket bag. Fringe is also another hot trend this season and I’ve seen it all over the spring 2016 runway. I chose to wear this bag with my outfit because of the fun color contrast it creates with my otherwise neutral look (I am always game for a pop of color). Since I already had plenty of detail in my outfit, I went for a simple pair of earrings and some silver rings. Also, take a look at my matte nails. I am obsessed with the Sally Hansen “Big Matte Top Coat” because you can throw it over any polish and it makes it matte immediately.

As you can see, the striped skirt is very versatile. It can be worn with heels or sneakers and paired with anything from a sweater to a T-shirt. Where would we be without a little inspiration from the runway?
