STYLE GURU STYLE: Stylin' It Up In New York

It’s that time of year again: Christmas in New York City. Whether you’re taking a trip to Rockefeller Center to see the tree, looking at the window displays on 5th Avenue or taking a stroll through Central Park, it can be hard to look cute when you are trying to keep warm in the cold weather. There is no better time and place than NYC at Christmas time, so you shouldn’t let the weather stop you from exploring and getting into the Christmas spirit the New York Way!

On this day, my friend and I decided to go to Bryant Park to their annual Winter Village. Here, local vendors have little pop-up shops with all sorts of unique items you can’t find anywhere else. The park also sets up ice skating, which is free if you bring your own skates (perfect for a college girl on a budget!). I love the Winter Village and buying items from local artists to give to my family and friends since it is all truly one of a kind. Walking through the shops and seeing things that remind you of certain people in your life is so much fun, and a perfect way to spend an afternoon!

Like a typical winter city day, the air was brisk and chilly, so it was important to stay warm. I love wrap around coats because they keep you extra warm when they are tied up, but if you’re a bit too toasty you can simply untie it. That is why I opted for my favorite camel wrap around coat and wore a black turtleneck bodysuit underneath. By wearing a turtleneck, I was able to not have to wear a scarf, and the bodysuit makes sure it stays tucked in all day. I love these jeans because while they are a simple blue denim, the patchwork knees are something different. Black booties complete the look alongside a cross-body purse to keep your hands free while you’re shopping.
