My style is somewhere in between girly-girl and tomboy. So often I incorporate androgynous pieces in my wardrobe. This look definitely portrays that and is literally me as an outfit!
I have always loved Alexander Wang, and he absolutely blew me away with his fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The collection in my opinion, had something for all the different types of girls out there. I was very inspired by that and wanted to create a look that embodied that same idea. The T-shirt dress looks from Wang’s collection are edgy, sexy, cool, flirty and more, showing the versatility of the trend. For the girls out there like myself that don’t dress too girly, Wang gave us some ideas with his spin on the T-shirt dress.
Being that Wang featured this look in his fall 2016 collection, the T-shirt dresses were paired with tights, boots and other fall essentials. Since this heat is still killer, I chose to translate this outfit into a summer look. For this look I put together a vintage Rolling Stones T-shirt with Puma creepers, a dad cap, a matte lip and hoop earrings in order to achieve the perfect amount of girly and tomboy.
My T-shirt is from the men’s section, which is why it fits like a dress. Don’t be afraid to take that risk and wear the T-shirt as a dress. Underneath I have on biker shorts short enough that you can’t see them, but if any wind passes through no one will get a surprise. If you think that’s too risky, you can also wear denim shorts under your tee for a different look.
I paired the T-shirt with the all-white pair of Fenty creepers. I told you guys before that Rihanna is my spirit animal and these shoes were a must-have for me. The laces on them were way too long, so I tied them around my ankles and I liked how they looked, so it became a thing! My dad cap has a bunch of colors and it ties together my whole look and aesthetic. I have a short haircut right now so when I wear dad caps I tend to look less feminine. To offset that, I put on a bold lip color with hoop earrings and it does the trick every time!
The T-shirt dress is so trendy right now. Celebrities like Rihanna, Zoe Kravitz, Kendall Jenner and Rita Ora (just to name a few) are rocking some killer looks with this trend. No matter what your style is, you can pull something together incorporating the T-shirt dress and your unique style, which is why I love the outfit combo so much. The T-shirt dress will always be a winner in my book and it’s definitely coming with me into the fall!
