I know, I know, you can’t believe it, but it’s still basically summer in Florida. By the end of October, we usually get some reprieve from the constant sweat dripping down our backs, but I still haven’t been able to break out my flannels and riding boots. I am so desperate for fall weather to come because fall fashion is the beacon of style. I was browsing the Topshop Unique fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection for some inspiration on how to incorporate fall trends into my wardrobe without wearing items that I would die of heat exhaustion in and found exactly what I was looking for.
Three common trends in the collection included suede, turtlenecks and skirts. I decided to combine these trends into one look that made fall in Florida not feel so bad after all. This look in particular inspired the silhouette of my outfit, however many of the looks in the collection inspired the rest of my choices.
I am wearing a lightweight, emphasis on the light, oatmeal colored turtleneck and paired it with a navy suede mini skirt. This skirt is definitely my favorite fall fashion purchase. It is perfect for hotter weather, but can easily be paired with tights and boots for cooler weather. I finished off the look by wearing navy ankle socks with a lace ruffle, a long navy pendant with fringe detail and tan booties. I also added my leather Madewell cross-body bag.
I love that this look screams fall while still being perfectly acceptable to wear in warmer weather. I’m basically tricking Florida into thinking it’s fall weather. If you live in a state where you are suffering from the Indian summer, fear not; fall clothing is okay to wear if you get the right cuts and a suede mini skirt is always a good idea.
