Lately, I’ve been finding myself a tad on the obsessed side when it comes to suede. I’m not sure if it’s because it has such a soft touch that hugs my body in all the right places, or if I’m just making excuses for my undiagnosed compulsive shopping addiction. I think it might be both.
My little fashion heart was struck by cupid when I first saw Derek Lam’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. Because the color scheme in his collection was meant for the spring, I decided to go for more neutral colors that would create an outfit that would be perfect for fall, while still keeping suede as the main component in my ensemble.
One of the things that I love most about fashion is that you can always take inspiration and create an outfit made for you. That was my goal for this look. I wanted to keep the inspiration I got from Lam, but change a couple of elements to showcase my style more.
I used my dress as the starting piece of my outfit, and styled everything around it. To keep suede as the center of my outfit, I paired my dress with some super cute faux suede ankle booties. To add a little bit of contrast, I added some of my favorite fall accessories.
In my opinion, I think that accessories are what really takes your outfit to the next level, and it really is what shows off your personality and style. I chose one of my favorite statement necklaces that added a little bit of dimension, and made my dress pop even more. I then decided on wearing a few midi rings, and I threw in a bit of sparkle and added some glam earrings. To top off my outfit, I wore an olive green Panama hat. After everything was put together, this outfit came out chic and trendy.
Fall is the perfect time to experiment with different fashion trends. Always remember, you can always take something and make it your own!
