STYLE GURU STYLE: Summer Colorblock

With great weather comes the great cliche of heading to the beach. I’m extremely fortunate to live less than a 10-minute walk away from the shores and I’m more than willing to take advantage of it. On a particularly fantastic day, a group of friends and I headed to the beach and I definitely wanted to go in style. Channeling Lanvin’s Resort 2016 collection, I worked a subtle colorblock into my outfit. Although it is not nearly as daring as this ensemble, I took the key pieces and worked it into a more wearable look.

The collection features bright colors, bold prints and major embellishments. Although this would be great for the runway or a fancy vacation to Cabo, I toned it down for my day to the beach. I wore a trendy mockneck mustard shift dress layered under an oversized denim jacket. The contrast between mustard and denim create a subtle colorblock effect that isn’t too crazy. I accessorized with black strappy sandals and my favorite round sunglasses.

It’s time to put down your black and white pieces and add some color into your wardrobe. Colorblocking, no matter how subtle, is a great way to amplify your look for the summertime. Getting this look is super easy! In fact, you probably have most of the pieces in your closet already. You can choose a top and bottom in two different jewel tones or do what I did and opt for an easy-to-wear shift dress. Simply layer on a great jacket and tada!

It doesn’t matter how close or far you are from the beach… you can rock this look wherever you go.

Get My Look: 1. Denim jacket. 2. Mockneck shift dress. 3. Strappy sandals.
