The working women’s go-to brand, Whistles, staged their spring/summer 2015 ready-To-wear collection in an entrance tunnel to the King’s Cross tube station in London. If this doesn’t catch your eye out of the plethora of ready-to-wear runway shows we saw this spring, the sensible simplicity and sensuality of the frocks are guaranteed to turn heads and grab your attention. The army of models displayed a limited color palette of white, black, peach and a pale blue. The looks were inherently composed of jumpsuits, culottes and slouchy tops, which were all paralleled in the fact that the clothes were sophisticated, and shared equal fluidity yet utter simplicity.
In this look that I put together, I wanted to reinvent the slightly modern aspect of the Whistles collection with an addition of my personal style. This was achieved in pairing an organic pair of white silk culottes with a floral print cropped tank top and white leather sandals. Culottes are a great pant as they exaggerate the feminine figure by hugging in at the waist and bulging out below, creating a curvier frame. While staying in the bounds of the Whistles collection by keeping my ensemble sophisticated, fluid and simple, I added a little bit of my own style by including a hint of spring florals to the mix. I am rarely one to exclusively color-block an outfit from head to toe, so completing the look with a patterned tank top made it more my genre of taste.
