The time we have all been waiting for is finally here—summer! So what does that mean? It is time to spice up your wardrobe with bright colors and bold patterns. From black and white to clashing colors, there are a multitude of ways to wear stripes this upcoming season. Some people may think that stripes are dull and boring or that they make you look bigger. However, stripes are the perfect pattern that can add some fun to a plain outfit AND they are taking over the runway! Designer Lisa Perry had multiple outfits showing off stripes in the resort 2016 fashion show. I really like how Lisa Perry pairs striped tops with solid color pants because it keeps the outfit simple and not super busy. Her looks definitely inspire me to play around with some color for a change.
To create a similar look, I have on solid peach colored chino ankle pants paired with a multicolored diagonal striped blouse, all purchased at The Limited. This is one of my favorite summer outfits because it is casual, stylish and comfortable. I absolutely love stripes because they make such a statement in any outfit. Whether you are wearing a striped top or striped bottoms, they all stand out! This outfit that can be worn for many different occasions such as going shopping, out to lunch with friends or even to work with a nice blazer on top. The diagonal stripes on the blouse add liveliness to this outfit and really bring out the color of the pants. This blouse is great for summer because it is a light material, colorful and grabs your attention.
Another reason why I love this outfit is because you can do so much with it. To add a little touch of my own style I decided to show a denim jacket (also purchased at The Limited). This is a great addition to my outfit because it goes perfectly with the top and pants, especially if it is a little breezy outside. If you didn’t want to wear a jacket, you could always throw on a solid color cardigan as well.
The final pieces are shoes and jewelry! To finish off my outfit I decided to wear nude/white wedges that I purchased from Target. I love my wedges because they are very neutral and can go with any color. I also have on a few of my favorite Alex and Ani bangles to accessorize a little bit. My outfit is finally complete!
Now I understand that playing around with bright colors and patterns can be intimidating for some people. It’s hard to step out of your comfort zone. But it is so much fun to put together new looks that you never would’ve thought to wear! This season, the runway is overflowing with ideas on how to mix and match colors and crazy patterns so don’t be afraid to change up your wardrobe!
