STYLE GURU STYLE: Summer to Fall

With summer coming to an end and fall just around the corner, we begin to enter what I call the in-between stage. It isn’t quite cold enough yet, but not hot enough and school is just starting up. We begin to scramble, juggling school and work and most importantly, what to wear! During this season my staple pieces are dresses and booties! Dresses are so easy to layer up–you can wear them with jackets, with T-shirts underneath and plain with tights.

For this look I have a more simple outfit that is easy to wear to school and then a night out with the girls. I have a black high neck ribbed dress, paired with an army green jacket, burgundy scarf and some tan booties. With the weather transitioning, the day starts out cold and gets warmer, the jacket is perfect to stay warm in and the outfit is still cute without it. I love throwing tights on with any dress because I think they make every outfit more sophisticated. These booties have a small heel making them easy to be worn all over campus, but also give the outfit the perfect boost. I chose to go with minimal jewelry; a tiny heart ring and marble watch make the outfit more casual.

You can add more jewelry, lose the tights and add a cute pair of pumps to make it into the perfect night out outfit. The key to rocking the transition pieces are layering. This makes the outfit able go from day to night easily.
