Although it has felt like a steady 75 degrees this entire week here in Charleston, the thought of finals has given me a case of the chills; so for my last article of the semester, I decided to break my new Free People sweater and Steve Madden thigh high boots out of my closet for some fresh air. As I paired them with my Urban Outfitters’ white jean shorts and green, lace halter bandeau, I could not have felt any more comfortable as the sun slowly sank earlier than I like for it to. No matter where you are in the country, any Fashionista must have at least two items in her closet: a slouchy, never want to take it off sweater, and a pair of sexy thigh high boots. These are what I like to call the “major key” of this December, because when I travel back home to where it is colder than where I go to school, these two must-haves can be worn in either location and can easily be dressed up with any trendy accessories as seen above. You’re welcome.
On that note, I will be ditching my thigh highs for a pair of Birkenstocks next semester, because this Style Guru will be studying abroad in Havana, Cuba, and you better believe I will be taking it by storm. I am ecstatic to be staying a part of the CollegeFashionista team, as I will be exploring a country that is so different from my home. I am very intrigued to scope out the hottest Cuban trends so that I can rant all about them in my upcoming articles next semester! Although I don’t expect to be shopping at Zara or Top Shop while I’m there, I am eager to see what the every day Style Gurus in Cuba would wear, and who knows? Maybe their style will be trending upon my return. After all, if their fashion scene is as vintage as their cars, then it was only a matter of time before I revived that 1950’s look they may, or may not, still be rocking. Guess we’re just going to have to wait until my departure in February to find out, but until then, I will see you in the New Year, ladies and gents!
